The popular Shinto Katana is the corner stone of the Hanwei line of samurai weapons. The Shinto Katana is a beautiful piece, an authentic katana from top to bottom. The blade is mounted in the real wood tsuka which is covered in real ray skin and wrapped in black Japanese cotton. The black iron tsuba is formed by a finely rendered dragon, detailed in gold, with true back-and-front detail. The blade is hand-forged in high-carbon steel and is differentialy-tempered using the traditional clay tempering method, resulting in a distinct hamon. Edge hardness is 60HRC, back hardness 40HRC. The grip is double-pegged to the tang for safety. Supplied with a protective cloth bag and traditional maintenance kit.
